In our social media age, products are tailored to become viral hits, and in the process can lose their heart. Designed in collaboration with Peter Pilotto for that brand’s Spring 2018 runway show, Panconesi’s earrings, necklaces, and bracelets touch on all of the current trends in the jewelry market—undulating shapes, functional elements, and a high-low mix of materials—but replace the silver and gold metals we’ve become used to with Instagram-friendly pastel hues, nylon sport cord, and untouched, raw stones.

“It is really detailed and considered, but very simple and impactful at the same time, ” says Peter Pilotto, who codesigns his namesake label with Christopher de Vos. “We were really blown away by the vibrancy and the quality when the pieces arrived. ”Wouldn’t you be? There’s a strange allure to pandora rose cheap the twisting bracelets and double hoop earrings in sherbet shades that Panconesi created for the brand. In enamel-coated metal with charms of real coral, mother-of-pearl, and jagged black stone, the pieces look like candy-colored talismans. Sweetening the offer is the fact that each item is somewhat customizable. For the runway show, some earrings had several stones layered up, though real-world wearers could instead add their own doodads or take them all off for a more streamlined shape.

“I always like to pandora petite charms design jewelry that evolves over time, ” says Panconesi. “Pieces that can adapt to many moods and that you can feel belong to you by layering them with your own heirlooms or something that could be personalized. ”It also helps that, because of Panconesi’s long history in the accessories industry, each piece is made at the highest level of craftsmanship. He started his career at a Florentine knitwear house making couture-grade jewelry, and then joined the accessories department of Givenchy under Riccardo Tisci. When Alexander Wang arrived at Balenciaga, so did Panconesi, and he continues to work as an accessories designer for the brand’s menswear collection, while also consulting for Mulberry’s accessories range.

The introduction to pandora necklace pendants Pilotto and De Vos came through mutual friends and quickly evolved into a Spring 2018 collaboration. “It was quite a fast process, ” says Panconesi. “We found ourselves, really, on the same page about many things. ” Pilotto echoes that sentiment, explaining that he and DVos instantly clicked with the designer. “We liked that he was into his research, combining quite a lot of things that we were also drawn to—like he is very fascinated with interior design and the playfulness of jewelry that you can recompose in different ways, the idea that you can put together mismatched elements to create a new harmony, ” Pilotto says.

Unlike other deliver-it-and-it’s-done collabs, Panconesi remained involved in the presentation of his pieces on the runway. “We worked together on every single outfit, ” says Pilotto. “Marco spent time at the fittings, and he was great because he did a few things on the spot, so he modified some pieces. ”Both parties agree that this collaboration will be a multi-seasonal one. As for Panconesi’s soon-to-launch line, he tells Vogue he wants to continue to create jewelry with personalized details in silver and gold metals. “Something really statement, precious, and unique, ” he offers.
